(Acceptance speech delivered by Roderick B. Ramos (PNU College Librarian) during the 7th General Assembly last December 8, 2007 at the Library Lobby of the Edilberto P. Dagot Hall, Philippine Normal University.)
Prof. Corazon M. Nera and TJIC Director Ms. Elnora Conti, chair and member of the Board for Librarians, respectively, Professors Miguel M. Cobaria and Ruben P. Marasigan, past presidents of the Association, fellow officers, guests, friends, ladies and gentlemen.
It’s a beautiful day for all us because today is the 7th General Assembly of PNU LIS alumni and this is a fitting program to welcome us all back, discover new members and meet the 2008 executive board for the Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni, one caring alumni group.
I believe that serving as the group’s leader for one year is easier than being a family man for there is a team of great persons in the Association – circle of presidents that includes Mrs. Elnora Conti (TJIC), Mrs. Socorro L. Limpin (Australia), Mrs. Consuelo Estigoy (ELJMC), Mrs, Evelyn Nabus (PLM), Mrs. Medina Castro (SIC) and Mrs. Estela Montejo (ADMU) and committed alumni-officers like Jocelyn L. Ladlad (DLSU), Noemi Cabantog (SPCP), Flordeliz Siochi (NCCA), Connie Fermanejo (CvSU), Marifi E. Navarro (ESS), Rosalina Soriano (GASAT), Marites K. Chavez (CNHS), and Antonio R. Resurreccion (XS).
Looking ahead for a more fruitful year, I accept the obligations and responsibility that go with being the new president of PNU-LISAA, Inc. I hope to get strength and wisdom from all of you and would like to share Sirach’s verse to everyone for a big task to accomplish each day of 2008:
Each of us is given a great deal of work to do and a heavy burden lies in all of us from the day of our birth until the day we go back to the earth.
